However, the truth is that counselling offers valuable benefits for individuals of all ages, from children to seniors. Whether you are navigating the complexities of adolescence, dealing with the pressures of adulthood, or seeking to find peace in your later years, counselling can provide essential support. This post will explore the various benefits of counselling across different age groups, illustrating how it can enhance emotional well-being, improve relationships, and foster personal growth.

Understanding the Importance of Counselling for Children

Lots of people ask me, 'how do you counsel young children?' Well to be honest it can be difficult to get young children to talk about their feels, after all, how does a young child articulate 'grief?'

Even as adults we can often not find the words that describe how we feel after losing someone, so how to we expect kids to know these words.

First of all, its important for the child feels safe when they enter my room for the first time. That's why I have Dave, yes, you read this correctly, my 'helper' in my sessions. Dave has become a fixture in my room with returning children racing in to eagerly clutch Dave to their chest. Dave sits quietly and gives awesome cuddles. Sometime he will go home for the week with the child (ssh, we also have Dave's twin Davey who will make his entrance if needed)

Dave is so helpful and has so many adventures. If you would like to hear more about Dave and how he manages to find a solution to the worries and problems.
